According to a recently submitted alcohol license application, a new restaurant concept named Howdy is preparing to open in San Francisco’s Mission District.
Coming to 3128 16th Street, the eatery will soon be neighbored by establishments such as the Salvadoran fare restaurant Panchita’s Pupusería & Restaurant, the Spanish cuisine concept Picaro, and the Mexican food eatery Puerto Alegre.
What Now San Francisco spoke briefly with the business’s owner, Arafat Herzallah, who shared, “We’re relocating and rebranding,” though didn’t specify from where or the name that the restaurant previously operated under.
Nevertheless, the San Francisco Standard reports that Herzallah is the restaurateur behind Freekeh, a Palestinian family-owned “authentic Middle Eastern tapas restaurant in the heart of the Mission District serving delicious, halal, traditional foods from the Levantine region,” per its website.
He is also the owner of the diner Pork Store Cafe, located at 1451 Haight Street, a breakfast-focused concept that offers menu items such as benedicts, omelettes, breakfast platters, and pancakes. Per the concept’s website, Pork Store Cafe was originally opened in 1925 by a Czechoslovakian couple and operated as a family-run business until the 50s.
The website offers another piece of potentially valuable information, sharing that a concept named Juicy Loosie is “coming soon.” Juicy Loosie, already in operation at 3122 16th Street, serves smoothies, bowls, fresh juice, and wellness shots.
Concerning an opening date for the upcoming concept at 3128 16th Street, Herzallah says, “It could be in a couple of weeks.”
