A brand-new pizza restaurant is preparing to open its doors in Kenneth City. Opening at 5859 54th Avenue N, at the intersection with 58th Way North, Monte Pizza will serve pizzas in a traditional Italian style, all fired in a wood-burning oven.

What Now spoke on Wednesday with owner Giacomo Monte about the opening. Monte brings years of pizza-making (and other) experience to the project.

“I’m originally from Italy,” Monte said. “I grew up in my family’s restaurant there, so I’m really bringing traditional pizzas, with the right flavor, made with Italian ingredients, Italian flour.”

Monte’s career has brought him through a variety of other culinary environments as well: in 2020, he launched Monte Gelato in London. “Now, after moving to Tampa, I decided it’s time.”

Monte describes Monte Pizza’s space as reminiscent of “a small Italian trattoria. It’s been made from scratch: wooden counter, brick pizza oven. We have some paintings, some pictures of Roma, and Italian flags. It’s a really nice, unique concept.”

In addition to a variety of traditional pizzas, Monte Pizza will also serve panini and—although here the details are still being ironed out—wine by the bottle.

Keep an eye out for Monte Pizza, opening soon in Kenneth City!
