Stay-at-home mom Victoria Weaver has long received compliments from friends and family on her baking. So after she went down a sourdough rabbit hole, she found her way to her own baking company, Little Batch Baking, in York.
“On social media you see a lot about microbakeries taking off, so I just started doing research on that and it went from there,” Weaver told What Now Charlotte.
When Little Batch launches later this fall, the core menu will feature plain sourdough, maple oat sourdough, Italian cheddar herb bread, English muffins, sourdough brownie bites and chocolate chip cookies. There will also be rotating seasonal items, kicking off with sourdough pumpkin cinnamon swirl.
“It’s a unique concept. It’s based on pre-order and pick-up so there’s no waste,” Weaver said. “Everything is being made-to-order instead of baking a bunch of stuff and hoping it sells. It’s made specifically for the customer. I think it brings more personalization to it.”
While Weaver is launching the brand as a home bakery, she plans eventually to expand from there. She sees the concept taking the form of a brick-and-mortar storefront down the line. She is looking forward to bringing a new concept centered around handmade baking with simple ingredients to the York community.
“I would love to see Little Batch bread on everyone’s tables,” Weaver said. “I’m open to where it can go and I’m hoping the community loves it.”
