An artisanal French bakery in East Somerville is expanding to Cambridge.

Chef Thomas Ferté is opening a second Michette Bakery location just outside of Inman Square at 305 Webster Ave, reports Boston Restaurant Talk (via a Facebook update from Somerville City Councilor Ben Ewen-Campen).

The original location is known for its freshly baked breads, sweet and savory pastries, and coffee, including popular picks like pain au chocolat, spanakopita, fougasse, sourdough, espresso, and matcha. The menu also features vegan and seasonally-inspired options.

A former corporate lawyer turned pastry maestro, Chef Ferté spent five years in New York’s corporate world before enrolling in baking school in Aurillac, France. He went on to hone his craft at various Parisian bakeries before returning stateside to launch Michette in 2022.

Ferté confirmed the expansion with What Now Boston, promising to share more details in the coming days. Stay tuned for grand opening updates, and follow @michettebakery on Instagram for drool-worthy previews of what’s to come.
