A modern twist on traditional Mexican cuisine is coming soon to South Boston.

Agaveros Guac & Margs, a new restaurant from owner Sergio Barragan, is almost ready to open its doors at 11 W Broadway after nearly a year in the works. The space was originally intended to house a fifth Ocho Cafe location, but those plans have apparently have fallen through.

Barragan told What Now Boston that the eatery will specialize in “authentic but modern” Mexican cuisine with “exotic drinks and dishes,” including favorites like burritos, tacos, enchiladas, salads, guacamole, and margaritas.

“From sizzling tacos to cheesy enchiladas, fresh salads, and hearty burritos – Agavero is bringing you the true taste of Mexico on every plate,” reads a post from the restaurant’s Facebook page. “Authentic flavors, vibrant dishes, and unforgettable experiences are just around the corner.”

The team is now putting the finishing touches on the space and awaiting final permits, with an opening expected sometime in the coming weeks.
