A routine health inspection was conducted at Tea Lam’s Corner on October 14. During the inspection, the Gwinnett, Newton & Rockdale County Health Department found several health code violations. The restaurant received a low score.

Tea Lam’s Corner, offers a variety of Vietnamese dishes, including pho, banh mi, and bubble tea. On October 14, the GNR Public Health Department conducted a routine health inspection on the establishment.

The officials cited several health code violations in Tea Lam’s Corner, including managerial issues and food storage at improper temperatures. The restaurant receives a low score of 62 and a grade of U, resulting in a grade of U for the inspection.

The official inspection report cited the following violations:

  • The report began by highlighting that managerial control over the establishment requires improvement. The inspectors also noted an employee eating in front of a compartment sink and beside a food prep cooler.
  • The report mentions that the operator failed to provide invoices for more than 20 containers of tiramisu. Tiramisu and liquid yogurt found in the establishment without labels were discarded during inspection.
  • The report further states that cooked chicken and beef were not cooling quickly enough to reach 41°F. The inspectors noted the restaurant used deep, covered containers instead of smaller or shallower ones for cooling.
  • The officials advised the restaurant to use blast chillers and other approved methods to cool down food at the right temperature.
  • Cooked noodles and tapioca had time labels exceeding 4 hours, although staff said they had been out for less time.
  • The report also mentions containers of shredded carrots and peeled radishes stored on the floor.
  • The report advised that cooked and raw food should be stored at proper temperatures and on clean surfaces.
  • All the food present in the establishment shall be obtained from the registered sources.
  • The mold-like substance found in the interior of the ice machine should be cleaned, and all the equipment and utensils that came in contact with the mold surface should be cleaned and sanitized.
  • The report further suggest storing cooked and raw food at proper temperatures and on clean surfaces to avoid contamination.

Follow-up Inspection

A follow-up inspection will be conducted within 10 days. The restaurant is required to fix all the violations mentioned in the official inspection report before the reinspection is conducted.

Additionally, another required routine inspection will be conducted within the next 12 months.
