It’s been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, setting the tone for what’s to come. Diners have proven enthusiastic about this mantra and daytime eateries are on the rise. A well-established chain is seizing this moment and movement and expanding its presence in the DFW with the assistance of a pair of local entrepreneurs. Franchisees JP Wu and John Zhang will be helming new Broken Yolk Cafe locations in the region, as well as taking over the concept’s existing McKinney storefront.
Wu and Zhang were kind enough to spend some time speaking to What Now Dallas about growing the brand’s presence in the DFW. When asked about prospective neighborhoods for the new restaurants, Zhang states: “We’re looking into Prosper, Frisco, Plano, Allen, and more north of Dallas. The majority of the locations will be in the North Dallas area.”
Zhang and Wu are optimistic but pragmatic about opening timelines, saying: “We are hoping by December of next year we’ll have the second store rolling. We’re trying to have one store a year-we’re trying to be realistic.”
Zhang and Wu believe that Broken Yolk Cafe is a great match for Dallas, one that will offer something the region is hungry for. “This is a great concept.” they state. “It has been very successful. We found out there were opportunities here in Dallas and the system has been around for 40-some years and Dallas is a very growing city and the demand for brunch is there. We’re very excited about this opportunity and we’re looking forward to growing the brand here.”
Indeed, Broken Yolk has been helping customers start their days right with scratch-made meals since 1979. The chain has expanded to 41 national locations, with more growth on the horizon.
Zhang and Wu are looking forward to saying “good morning” to DFW diners and welcoming them to Broken Yolk Cafe, as the restaurant grows alongside the city. Zhang states: “The city is growing, so a lot of younger generation folks are moving to this area …With growing out the city, more people go out to eat, and I think the brunch concept really fits the needs of the growing city.”
