Twist Hot Chicken is getting ready to heat things up in Tempe.

The Nashville hot chicken restaurant is planning a restaurant at 1245 W. Elliott Road, according to its website. The new restaurant expects to be open before the end of 2025.

The first Twist Hot Chicken opened in March 2022 in Peoria by partners Kyle Preston and Lance Linderman, and chef Saad El Quarati.

While traditional hot chicken recipes call for mostly cayenne pepper, El Quarati seasons his chicken with global influences including tahini, zhoug, harissa, and Trinidadian 7 Pot Douglah peppers, to put a global “twist” on the traditional recipe.

Menu items include Twist hot chicken sandwiches, tenders, sliders, and platters in a choice of heat levels. People on a plant-based diet can order a vegan option. Sandwiches and tenders can be customized a number of ways, with hot honey, sauces, pickles, and slaw.

If you like to turn up the heat, Twist has you covered with a range of spiced options such as loaded Nashville hot fries, Nashville hot mac, and a variety of sides such as cheese curds, mac n’ cheese, cols slaw, and more. Many sides are also available as vegan options, so everyone can enjoy a good meal. For dessert, Twist Hot Chicken offers beignets and Italian doughnuts.
