After serving 1621 Polk Street, San Francisco, with love and sweetness for 7 decades, Bob’s Donuts bids farewell to its original location. Through social media, the donut legend announced that it is moving just down the block to 1720 Polk Street on November 23, 2025.

Bob’s Donuts Announced Closure of its OG location

Founded in the 1960s, Bob’s Donuts and Pastries is a family-owned and operated San Francisco staple. Popularly known for classics like raised chocolate and maple donuts, apple fritters, giant donuts, cinnamon rolls, and chocolate bars. Head chef Aya and co-leader Roberto currently lead the operations at Bob’s Donuts.

The beloved donut destination recently announced its relocation on Instagram. Bob’s Donuts wrote a heartfelt message recounting the rich history of the brand and the family legacy.

Bob’s Donuts wrote, “It’s never easy to say goodbye. After 70 years at 1621 Polk St, Bob’s Donuts is closing this location and shifting operations to 1720 Polk St on November 23, 2025.”

In the post, the donut spot also shared appreciation and gratitude for its loyal customers and said, “Bob’s has always been more than just a donut shop. It’s a reflection of the incredible community around us. Over the years, we’ve been humbled by the kindness of our neighbors: customers who stayed late to keep Aya company during quiet overnight hours, friends who helped sweep the floor when things got busy, and Bill, who never hesitated to run across the street to grab us change when we needed it. These gestures remind us how special it is to be part of a community that looks after each other. Aya has always cared deeply for her community, but through it all, this community cared just as deeply for her and for Bob.”

“Although this is a bittersweet goodbye, we’re grateful to continue to be part of this special community at our new location at 1720 Polk St. Thank you to everyone for the continued support throughout our journey, and we’re excited to see you at our new store,” added the Bob’s Donuts team.

Overwhelming Responses from Loyal Customers

The news of the relocation surprised Bob’s Donuts’ loyal customers; several guests commented that they would miss the charm of the original location and the memories made there.

One customer wrote, “I’ll miss the vibe and familiarity of the old space, but the new location is so nice! Congratulations, Aya and Don!”

The community further extended its best wishes to the Bob’s Donuts team for its new location and shared excitement to experience this next chapter.

“So glad you are staying in business and still slinging donuts! I’ve rolled through there many an evening after the Cinch, and you all have never let me down! Mahalo nui loa for all the great donuts, and looking forward to visiting the new location next time I’m in SF!” wrote another customer.

With the closing of the 70-year-old location, Bob’s Donuts is saying goodbye to a big chunk of its history, years of memories, and connections built there. The donut shop’s new location is set to bring new and fresh experiences, while the nostalgic charm and beloved traditional flavors that define Bob’s Donuts will live on.
