The former Village Tavern space at 4201 Congress St. in SouthPark is slated to receive a new restaurant later this fall. Laurel Park will open in the space where Village Tavern closed last October.
Expect to see an elevated but approachable atmosphere with a large patio bar.
Dan McCormick is the managing member behind the restaurant, according to business filings with the state. What Now Charlotte spoke with McCormick in May when he filed permits for renovations on the Village Tavern space, but he declined to share more details about the concept at that time.
The team has been teasing construction on the brand’s Instagram page throughout the fall, preparing the space for opening.
Local chef Brett Faldstein will head up the kitchen at Laurel Park. Axios Charlotte reports that the menu will offer New American cuisine with international elements, with signature items such as duck barbacoa empanadas, pasta dishes and a bistro filet. The Laurel Park Instagram page has also indicated that the dessert menu will feature ube cheesecake and a s’mores tart.
Brasstown Beef will be supplying beef to Laurel Park, and the restaurant plans to purchase produce from local farmers and vendors to supply ingredients for the menu.
As of now, an exact opening date is still forthcoming.
