Founded in Rochester, MN, by Matt Mongoven and Linda Black, Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom has grown as a franchise with eight locations spread all over the country—including one in Florida, in Brooksville. Now, a new Smokin’ Oak is coming to Lithia, opening at 5607 Circa Fishhawk Blvd, according to recently submitted plan review documents.
Smokin’ Oak’s 10” individual-sized wood fired pizzas come in varieties like the San Marino (Crushed tomato sauce, goat cheese, mozzarella, prosciutto, garlic and crushed red pepper baked in our wood-fired oven and topped with fresh spinach), the Smokey Dokey (BBQ sauce, mozzarella, chicken, applewood bacon and red onion baked in our wood-fired oven and then topped with cilantro), and the brand-new Bee Keeper (Tomato Sauce, Pepperoni, Jalapeno, Mozzarella and bake it in our wood-fired oven, then top it with Mike’s Hot Honey and Basil).
“We spent years perfecting every aspect of our pizza recipes – from the dough recipe (shhh!….it’s a secret) to our made-in-house sauce and the unique flavor combinations we’ve created using freshly grated cheese, meats roasted in our wood-fired oven, and hand-cut veggies,” says the Smokin’ Oak website. “Once your pizza is made to order, it’s launched into the wood-fired oven and takes just a couple of minutes to bake.
Behind the location are franchisees Lauren and Korey Hoger. What Now was unable to reach Korey Hoger immediately for comment on Wednesday. Stay tuned for possible updates with details on the new Smokin’ Oak in Lithia and its projected opening date.
