Lewis Barbecue has a location in the works in North Carolina. The Charleston-based brand is heading to a more than 8,000-square-foot space at the Salvage Yard at the Raleigh Iron Works development, according to Axios Raleigh.
This spot will join existing locations in Charleston and Greenville and will mark the first location for the brand in North Carolina. There is also a location on the way to Atlanta.
Originally from El Paso, pitmaster John Lewis opened Lewis Barbecue in June 2016, bringing Central Texas-style barbecue to Charleston. It features a laid-back atmosphere with honky-tonk music, alongside a menu featuring beef brisket, pulled pork, turkey breast, spare ribs, Texas hot guts sausage, coleslaw, potato salad, corn pudding, collard greens and mac and cheese.
The news of a forthcoming Raleigh location comes shortly after Lewis Barbecue in Charleston became a 2025 Michelin Bib Gourmand Recipient.
Lewis is also behind Rancho Lewis, which opened in 2022 in Charleston. That spot serves Mexican-inspired food and drinks.
The Raleigh location is expected to open next year.
