A bar featuring soul and Mediterranean options is coming to Portsmouth next month.

Pomalo Bar will be opening at 5903 N Lombard Street in the Sundown Pub space. Right now, construction is happening inside and final paperwork is being done. According to Haley Wienecke, general manager for the bar, they are now looking at a Dec. 1 opening.

From the Bridgetown Bites article, food served will be Southern soul dishes with Italian fusion. This includes a smoked brisket po’boy. Drinks will be mainly cocktails, beer and wine.

“Quality and craft without pretension or ego & a vibe that welcomes you just as you are–let go, tune in and just be,” says the description on their Instagram page. The owner is Mary Caballero who has owned the Sundown Pub space for a year.

The Sundown Pub has been on N Lombard Street for 20 years, and is right next to the Drunken Noodle Thai restaurant. This is in Portsmouth on the border of the University Park neighborhood.

The space was first teased in early October on their Instagram page. It is described as a space for music, conversations and relaxation. Inside, there will also be a pool table and arcade games.
