A DFW restaurant is setting out to prove that the good a well-prepared meal can do for a community far transcends simple sustenance. Cafe Momentum pairs delicious dishes with an altruistic spirit, offering at-risk youth an entrance into the culinary world and an opportunity to learn the skill sets needed to succeed. In exciting news for Dallas, the big-hearted cafe is preparing to commence work on a new location in the Wilson Historic District.

Cafe Momentum will be opening what it’s referring to as a “learning location” at 3001 Greenwood Street. A press release regarding the location explains that it will “provide interns with expanded resources, including mental health services, educational support, and workforce training.”

Cafe Momentum’s new storefront will be a fresh construction built on land donated by local nonprofit Meadow Foundation. According to paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the two-story building will span 12,062 square feet. The forms further show that construction-described as “ground-up building featuring a restaurant with a commercial kitchen on the first floor and training/offices on the second floor”- is set to begin on January 12 of next year and should wrap by September 15 of 2026.

Cafe Momentum, whose stated objective is to “transform young lives by equipping our community’s justice-involved youth with life skills, education and employment opportunities to help them achieve their full potential”, has been serving its customers and its community for the past 10 years. Visitors can obviously feel great knowing that their support helps the next generation, fortunately they can also feel sated knowing the food is delicious. Dallas Morning News named Cafe Momentum one of the “Top Ten Best New Restaurants in Dallas” in 2021.

Future regulars can look forward to sampling a menu featuring dishes like smoked fried chicken, butternut squash rigatoni, and mushroom bisque among other sumptuous dishes.
