Margot Café & Bar to Wrap Up Operations in June 2026

Margot Café & Bar announced on Instagram that it will close, marking the end of an era for East Nashville diners. The popular East Nashville destination will open for one last time on June 5, 2026.
Chef-owner Margot McCormack confirmed the closure and reflected on the café’s more than 20 years in East Nashville. In her farewell address, McCormack recalled her beginnings as a line cook at Faison’s and Margot Café and Bar’s debut on June 5, 2001.
McCormack then thanked the Nashville community for the French bistro’s success, including the staff, purveyors, and diners. She also thanked local farmers and suppliers whose seasonal ingredients, wines, and spirits helped define the café’s menu.
She reflected on the many celebrations hosted over the years, including weddings, births, graduations, and retirements. She also thanked the community for allowing her to mentor emerging chefs and shape Nashville’s culinary scene.
The chef-owner at Margot Café & Bar then looked back on the restaurant’s resilience through the years. From 9/11 to the 2008 recession and COVID to floods and tornadoes, the East Nashville location saw it all. McCormack further described how the French spot battled an influx of new restaurants as well.
However, the past five years, according to the chef-owner, had been ‘harder than the first 20 put together.’ McCormack said that she had become older and lacked any further fighting spirit. This is what has pushed her towards a ‘new chapter.’
