Truly Pizza, a craft-focused artisanal pizzeria, is getting ready to open a new location in Venice Beach at 1237-1239 Abbot Kinney Boulevard.
The company’s third location is set to move into the former home of Greenleaf Kitchen & Cocktails, according to a recent liquor license application. An exact opening date has not been confirmed. Customers can expect Truly Pizza’s signature whole pies, fresh salads, house-baked sandwiches, charcuterie and cheese boards, soft-serve desserts, and a curated selection of local wines and craft beers.
Truly Pizza was co-founded by hospitality veteran Donna Baldwin, third-generation pizzaiolo John Arena, World Pizza Champion Chris Decker, and real estate developer Steve Muller. The brand has built a reputation for blending traditional pizza techniques with California-inspired creativity. Its other locations, at Dana Point and Laguna Beach, emphasize handcrafted pies, interactive dining experiences, and neighborhood hospitality.
“We’ve created Truly Pizza to serve as a neighborhood pizzeria that is welcoming, enthusiastic, service-oriented, and thoughtful to our customers throughout the entire guest experience,” Donna Baldwin says on the company’s website. “We value and care deeply about our local community and look forward to expressing our passion for hospitality, design, and of course, amazing pizza with our neighbors here in Dana Point.”
The menu will include classic pizzas, such as the Champion Tomato & Cheese, as well as seasonal creations like The Harvest and Sweet Cheeks. It will also feature house-baked sandwiches, starters such as Garlic Pull-Apart Bread and Classic Chicken Wings, and desserts including soft-serve ice cream and Orange Creamsicles. The beverage program pairs California wines with craft beers and specialty soft drinks.
“Food is the expression of our community, the environment, and the background of the people who make and eat the food, and we’ve created Truly Pizza to be a hub that brings these expressions to life through great pizza,” co-owner John Arena says on the company’s website. “Our menu is informed but not bound by tradition, and mindfully curated from the ingredients to the food’s aesthetic – every decision is selected for a purpose with a focus on local sourcing and supporting farmers in our community.”
