The Oceanside dining scene welcomes a new gem:  Little Fawn, an intimate restaurant and cocktail bar with a warm, sultry vibe and mid-century flair. Nestled inside the historic Fin Hotel (built in 1927), Little Fawn blends thoughtful design, a friendly neighborhood energy and a California-meets-Mediterranean menu driving a repeat clientele, crafted from seasonal, local ingredients.

Behind this new space is Jon Rhinerson, who formerly owned Encinitas’ Échalé! and whose family hails from Lebanon. Before diving into culinary, Rhinerson was a recognized LA clothing designer who dressed celebrities including Usher, Hayden Panettiere and Jack Osbourne. Rhinerson brings the discernment of an artist and designer to all aspects of Little Fawn’s dining experience, from food and beverage to service and sound.

Also a key member of Little Fawn, inimitable executive chef Seth Tuma, a Louisiana-born culinary talent who began cooking at eight and worked his way through several kitchens including La Valencia, Fox Restaurant Concepts and Échalé! Together, they have transformed the minimalist space attached to The Fin Hotel into a cozy, intimate spot with a speakeasy feel, where ‘80s rap sets the soundtrack and Rhinerson frequently greets guests at the door, checking in with a personal touch without hovering.

“We want Little Fawn to feel like your favorite hidden spot in town—an approachable, warm space where people can connect over great food and drinks,” said Rhinerson in a statement. “Every detail, from the music to the lighting to the menu, reflects a love of craft and a bit of nostalgia.”

Tuma brings a unique blend of culinary influences, balancing his Louisiana roots with a California-Mediterranean sensibility. Signature dishes include Beef Cheek Cavatelli, Fennel Sausage + Mezcal Mussels, a crowd-pleasing Roasted Butternut Squash with salsa matcha and honey Greek yogurt and a Fried Chicken Sandwich elevated with lemon-garlic labneh and harissa honey.

”We want every plate at Little Fawn to feel familiar yet exciting—approachable dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients that surprise the palate without ever feeling fussy,” said Tuma. “It’s about creating food that invites people to relax, share and enjoy the experience together.”

The beverage program features natural wines and a carefully selected bar of spirits that reflect Rhinerson’s philosophy and taste—thoughtfully curated bottles like the Del Maguey mezcal , Tequila Amatiteña, Smith & Cross Rum and Widow Jane 10-Year Bourbon—alongside timeless classics and innovative signature drinks.

The space itself channels a ‘70s Porsche vibe—sleek, stylish and a little nostalgic. With natural light, a relaxed energy and an intimate setting, it’s the perfect backdrop for enjoying elevated, approachable food with friends or a date night that feels personal and special. A place where, dare we say, people can fawn over one another.
