The retail center on the northwest corner of Northeast 22nd Street and Northeast Second Avenue in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood will soon welcome a new restaurant into the mix. Called Portofino Fresh Market, it will open at 2200 NE Second Ave, according to submitted plan review documents.
What Now confirmed news of the opening with a representative of Portofino Fresh Market this week. The representative was not available to discuss the news by deadline, but stay tuned because we’re expecting an update soon.
For the moment, however, this does leave us guessing about Portofino Fresh Market’s opening timeline and menu offerings. The clue we do have available is, of course, the name. There is Portofino Tower in Miami Beach, for one thing; but perhaps more relevant is Portofino, a town in the metropolitan area of Genoa, on the Italian Riviera.
Signs would therefore point to something along the lines of an Italian market and restaurant. (Once again: stay tuned.)
Opening in the Second Avenue location, Portofino Fresh Market will join restaurants like Fruta Fresca and Halal Heat Downtown Miami, along with local businesses like Urban 22 Market & Smoke and Mansion Ali.
