Following the success of their Beaverton location, Akira Sushi is debuting a new concept.

The owner of Akira Sushi will be opening a new location called Akira Buffet at 7601 E Mill Plain Boulevard in Vancouver, per a report from Bridgetown Bites. Their current restaurant is in Beaverton. Owner Changming Yu told What Now Portland he is hoping to open in three months.

The current spot at 4021 SW 117th Avenue C offers sushi rolls with fresh fish like crab meat, salmon and black tiger shrimp. Appetizers, soups, salads and desserts are also on the menu. Yu said the options for the new location will be slightly different as it will be buffet-style.

In Vancouver, they are taking over the former Chopsticks location, which is on the same side of the street as Taqueria Sr. Lopez. Yu has been eying expansion for a while, and when he saw the space was vacant he knew it would be a fruitful opportunity.

News of a new location from Akira first came from a Facebook post mentioning Chopsticks was vacant, and a new sign went up. Right now, construction is happening inside the restaurant.
