Just over a year ago, What Now reported that Delectable Delights, the ice cream and sweets shop born in Lutz, was planning to launch its third new location in less than two years. And with the way time flies, we blinked, the new store opening at 14145 Seventh Street in Dade City, and now Delectable Delights is preparing to expand to another new location.
This time, it’s headed to Downtown Bartow, where it will open in a former theater space at 375 E Main St.
“We absolutely love going into historic neighborhoods,” Devra Wygant, creator and owner of Delectable Delights in partnership with her husband Daniel, told What Now on Thursday. “This will be our third building that is around 100 years old. She (yes, I like to personify the buildings) used to be a theater, and we are actually bringing in authentic cast-iron theater chairs from the 1920s to help set the stage. Our ice cream shops are not just about getting the best ice cream in the world, but the experience, unique treasures, decor, and so much more.”
The size of the new location also offers more possibilities for Delectable Delights in Bartow.
“It’s definitely a lot bigger,” Daniel Wygant said. “It’s probably at least double the size of our next largest store. It will have the same feel, our signature brand—we do all the work ourselves. But it will also allow us to do a little more retail. Since we have the space, hopefully we’ll have some local vendors have their stuff there to sell. That way, not only do we have a larger selection for customers, but we’re also helping other local businesses.”
That’s right: in addition to offering a range of ice cream, milkshakes, brownies, and molten cakes (and other hot desserts ideal for cold weather, as Daniel points out), Delectable Delights is also a toy shop. Bringing the community together in a longstanding gathering space, Delectable Delights has come to serve as a cornerstone to the community in Lutz, and that’s the relationship it strives for wherever it goes.
“As long as we can keep finding these small communities that we instantly feel at home in, we will keep growing,” Daniel said. “You won’t see us in a strip mall. We always want something with authenticity, history, and a small-town community feel.”
Delectable Delights Bartow is working toward an opening in February/March 2026.
