Filipino fusion restaurant Izzy & Wooks is set to take over a kiosk at Saluhall in San Francisco, replacing Casa Borinqueña, a vegan Puerto Rican restaurant, at 945 Market Street, Floor 2
Casa Borinqueña’s last day at Saluhall will be January 1, 2026, according to SF Gate. The closure comes after contract disputes with Ingka Centres, the parent company of IKEA, and ongoing financial challenges, including low daily revenue averaging around $500. Izzy & Wooks’ opening date has not yet been announced, but customers can expect a menu of Filipino-American fusion sandwiches, bowls, and signature shakes.
Saluhall has seen significant turnover in recent months, losing several vendors, including Momo Noodle, Tacos El Ultimo Baile, La Venganza, and Kayma. Former operator Kerb Food parted ways with Ingka Centres, leaving the parent company to manage daily operations. Approximately 30 employees at Kerb Food will be laid off by December 1, affecting roles such as bussers, dishwashers, and kiosk staff, while third-party vendors remain unaffected.
Izzy & Wooks is operated by Cheryl and Manuel Ramirez, who have more than two decades of experience in the Bay Area restaurant scene, including the Inay Filipino Kitchens and San Francisco’s first Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken. The concept blends Asian-American pantry flavors with classic sandwiches, inspired by Ramirez’s family cooking, and focuses on creative, fast-casual dining options.
Signature items at Izzy & Wooks include the Ultimate Bacon & Egg sandwich, Shiitake Italian Beef, Longanisa Muffin, Crispy Mochiko Chicken, and Inay’s BBQ Chicken Banh Mi. The restaurant also serves shareable plates like Chicken Sisig Fries, Longanisa Poutine, House-made Lumpia, and Toyo-Mansi Popcorn Chicken. Customers can pair meals with house-made shakes, including the Ube Cookie Butter Shake and Mango Graham Shake.
Other tenants at Saluhall include Cheezy’s Artisan Pizza, Saté and Soto, Smish Smash, and Curry Up Now, each offering a range of dishes from artisanal pizzas and Indonesian specialties to smashburgers and Indian-inspired street food. The move will provide a fresh dining option for Saluhall patrons and reflects Izzy & Wooks’ goal of offering bold, inventive flavors in a fast-casual setting.
