Takumi Sushi and Bar is already creating buzz around town for its extensive menu, size, and offerings. The new sushi bar is set to debut at 10907 Culebra Road in January 2026.
A recent state filing shows that construction on Takumi Sushi and Bar started in December of last year and will wrap up at the end of this month. Co-owner of Takumi Sushi and Bar, John Wong, told What Now San Antonio that it’s been a lot of time and effort to get the new eatery open.
“Built from the ground up. So it’s been a one to two year process,” Wong said.
Wong, in partnership with Julie Li and others, created Xianquing LLC to get the establishment up and running.
“A few of us formed a group to do this venture,” Wong said.
Described as the “first Japanese Restaurant with Sushi and A Bar right in the heart of Alamo Ranch,” as the website reads, Takumi Sushi and Bar is set to bring a unique Japanese experience to the community. The new restaurant is taking the AYCE sushi experience to the next level with its extensive menu, offering everything from a variety of fresh rolls, sashimi, Japanese homestyle-made salads, stir fry, and more. The mouthwatering list can literally go on forever.
“I have not seen anything like this selection or the size,” Wong said.
The Xianquing LLC group is already in talks about opening another location, but wants to see how its first location does in the Alamo City.
“We want to dream, but we don’t want to dream too much,” Wong said.
Promising a family environment and one-of-a-kind dining experience, with the variety of dishes it’s ready to serve up and the ongoing buzz around Takumi Sushi and Bar opening, I’m sure many dreams will come true.
“Hopefully, it will be a family atmosphere where you can get your money’s worth,” Wong said.
Takumi Sushi and Bar will open its doors for the first time in San Antonio at 10907 Culebra Road in January 2026.
