The cocktail bar with comfort food will shut its doors but is set to open at a new address next year.

It is being reported Cliff’s bar at 128 NE Russell Street will be closing at the end of December. The bar has been in the Eliot neighborhood since 2019. Co-owner Sierra Luebke told What Now Portland she and husband Josh Luebke are currently looking for a new space.

“Current location set to close by end of year due to landlords not renewing our lease. We’re looking for a new home!” Says the description on their website.

The owners share space with Wonder Ballroom, a popular music venue in Eliot. In mid-October, the owners heard that the landlord would not be renewing the lease. They previously closed the bar several times in 2024 when going on vacation, but this time it’s permanent.

Cliff’s is known for serving gastropub items, and offering late night menus with cocktails and spirits. Sandwiches, burgers and fries are dinner options, along with appetizers like Bavarian pretzel and pickled egg. When the owners find a space, Cliff’s is expected to be a new concept.

“We’ve loved being a part of your lives, from the celebrations to heartaches and hope to continue to do so in the time we have left with food, drinks, laughter and friendship,” said the post.

Sierra and Josh will reconnect with What Now Portland when they have a space secured, and more information on the future of Cliff’s will be released soon.
