The Metro Pizza of Las Vegas has announced that it will permanently close its Tropicana Avenue location this November, marking the end of an era for the beloved neighborhood staple. The restaurant shared the unfortunate news of closure through a social media and thanked the community for its years of support.
Metro Pizza Announces Closure of Tropicana Avenue Location
Founded in the 1950s, Gennaro Lombardi opened the pizzeria to create a warm, welcoming place where family and friends could relax, share good food, and enjoy time together.
Over the decades, Metro Pizza has grown beyond Las Vegas, expanding to several outlets. The menu ranges from classic cheese and New-York–style pies to more creative offerings like the ‘Honolulu’ and the ‘Gotham.
The pizzeria shared on Instagram, “After having a presence for over 37 years on the East Tropicana Ave. corridor, we are sad to announce that we are closing our restaurant.”
The restaurant announced that Friday, November 28, will be the final day of service.
The post further mentioned, “We are deeply grateful to all of our Metro Pizza friends and family for your support over the many decades.”
“Our loyal staff (who will all continue to work with us at our other locations going forward), and of course, our future. The Best is Yet to Come!” concluded the restaurant.

Community Reaction on Social Media
Many customers and loyal fans came forward after the news of the closure broke on social media. One faithful fan of the pizzeria wrote, “I’m so sad to hear this. Metro Pizza and Macayos on that corner were great places to go when I was both a student and an employee at UNLV.”
Another customer appreciated the restaurant for taking care of its staff and said, “I’m so sad to see this, but it doesn’t surprise me. I rode my bike to your Tropicana and Eastern location all the time for lunch as a small kid. Now I’m enjoying the Horizon location nearly once a week as an adult and business owner. Glad to know you are taking care of the staff.”
After nearly 4 decades of serving the LV community, the restaurant will shut its doors for good. As the pizzeria bids farewell to the Tropicana Ave location, it will continue to serve the loyal customers with its signature pizzas and other dishes at different locations. Metro Pizza has not shared any official reason for its untimely closure.
