Domino’s Pizza just might be one of the most popular pizza brands in the world. The worldwide pizza chain continues to grow and franchise and a San Antonio franchise is continuing what could only be described as an American Dream story with the opening of another location in the region, this time at 211 South Zarzamora St.
According to this recently filed state permit, construction on the new Domino’s Pizza is expected to start in mid-December and is slated to wrap up in May. San Antonio Domino’s Pizza franchisee, Alan Murph, of South Texas Pizza, is behind the operation and shared with What Now San Antonio that he expects to open his new location for the huge food chain by May 2026.
Murph’s story with the booming pizza eatery started in 1983.
“It’s a 40-year story that would be hard to do justice,” Murph said.
The restaurateur started as a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza in ’83; four years later, he opened his first store. Now with at least a few stores open, Murph is continuing to expand his franchise group and the brand with the opening on South Zarzamora Street.
Domino’s Pizza currently has more than 21,000 locations cooking, slicing, and dishing out pizzas worldwide. In the US alone, there are more than 7,000 locations, with Texas having the highest number of stores. There are nearly 80o Domino’s Pizza locations in the Lone Star State, with nearly 40 in The Alamo City.
While all locations abide by the franchisable menu and design, the new Domino’s Pizza that will open on South Zarzamora Street will have a unique offering: a pick-up and drive-thru window.
“Makes it convenient for customers. If you can’t get out of the car or don’t want to get out of the car, and you have kids, they’re not having a great day, but you can keep them in the car while you sit in the drive, things like that,” Murph said.
Customers can get their hands on one or more of the pizza brand’s widely known and beloved specialty pizzas, stick with the classics, add some wings and drinks, or just take home desserts. The new Domino’s Pizza set to come to San Antonio will have all of the above and more; you can even try out Murph’s fave.
“Thin crust extravaganza, hold the green peppers and add jalapenos,” Murph said.
Of course there’s always the option to BYO or build your own.
Murph shared that this is far from the last location you’ll see the long-time franchisee open.
The new Domino’s Pizza is set to open at 211 South Zarzamora St in May 2026.
