Bateau and Boat Bar, shuttered in June for a full revamp, will reopen soon with a new concept, a new name and a refreshed menu.
“What that has entailed is turning what was the General Porpoise coffee and donut space into a dedicated private dining, private party area and then also turning the back part of Boat Bar into a dedicated private area as well. What was the former Boat Bar space will be just a bar with a small menu servicing the restaurant which will be in the former Bateau space,” Co-owner Jeremy Price told What Now Seattle.
The space will reopen as Jeffry’s, unifying the former two concepts into a single restaurant and bar.
“We wanted to give the new reimagined space a new name that shifted people’s expectations from how things used to be into this new concept,” Price said. “It’s [Jeffry’s] the name of my business partner, Renee Erikson’s yellow lab. There’s a large scale chalk drawing of him inside, so we’re naming it after him.”
Jeffry’s will remain a steakhouse but will lean more into classic offerings.
“We’re still going to be buying whole animals and butchering in-house and dry-aging in house. The dry-aging process is really unique,” he said. “I think folks can expect more traditional accompaniments to those steaks like our version of Caesar salad, mashed potatoes, frites and shrimp cocktail.”
The cocktail program will add tableside martini service to elevate the experience.
“We’ll have cocktail carts that will actually come to your table and we’ll make your martini just how you like it in front of you, which we think will be a fun touch. We’re trying to elevate and make it more interesting,” Price said.
Price is eager to welcome guests back into the new space.
“It’s always been confusing for folks having two different restaurants under the one roof, so I’m excited to reopen with a concept that smooths those sharp edges and hopefully creates a better and more hospitable experience for everyone who comes through the door,” he said.
Jeffry’s plans to open its doors in early February.
