A deli serving baked goods is coming to the town off of Highway 26 outside Portland.

Mt Hood Village Deli & Sweets is opening at 65000 E Highway 26 in Welches. Locals Alexis McElheran and Kelley Jee who are experienced bakers and cooks are debuting the spot. The two were hoping to open by Thanksgiving, but now the opening date is being pushed back.

“We are so excited to serve the community but we are stuck and patiently waiting on the County so we can continue moving forward,” said the most recent Facebook post. Their first announcement about their location came on Nov. 9 on social media, saying their restaurant is going in the Mt. Hood RV Village. No opening date was specified, but they are “feeling excited.”

In a report from Mountain Times Oregon, the restaurant will offer both sit-down and takeout options, such as soups and sandwiches. No website has been set up yet, but desserts like cakes and pie have been showcased on social media.

Both Jee and McElheran work at the Mt. Hood Oregon resort and are very involved with the Mt. Hood community. The project is being met with praise and excitement online, and they are hoping to announce an opening date soon.
