After five years serving the San Antonio community, Miss Chickpea’s Cafetal will close permanently after the holidays. The café serves Central American-inspired desserts like Ham and Cheeze Croissant, Lemon Blueberry Popover, Vegan Cake, and Rainbow Concha.

The café team shared, “It has been a crazy ride these last 5 years from a small dream to a café, but we are having to start a new chapter of Miss Chickpeas without the Cafetal. The last day of service will be Sunday, 12/28.”

Following the closure announcement, loyal customers shared emotional messages expressing their support and appreciation for the café. The café will share more details about the farewell soon.

In the post, the café cited financial strain and unstable market conditions as the reasons behind the decision. “The market is ever fluctuating, and in order for us to keep moving and growing, we are having to make this difficult adjustment,” said the café.

However, the café said it plans to renovate its second location on Broadway, and added that the updated space will offer more options and include new concepts planned for 2026. The closure marks the end of a five-year run for the local vegan dessert destination amid ongoing market challenges.
