A much-loved antique and home décor outlet in Boerne, The Red Rooster, is ready to bid farewell after more than 30 years. Owner Grace Wormington, who runs the spot along with her daughter Jennifer Finch, gave the update to customers through social media.
The Red Rooster is Set to Close Permanently
On December 18, Grace Wormington and Jennifer Finch announced through a Facebook post that The Red Rooster will close by the end of this year. This will mark the end of its 35 years of service at the Boerne fixture. Sharing the reasons, the owners said that they now wanted to retire and start a new chapter of life.
Grace and Jennifer expressed their gratitude to Boerne’s community for supporting their collection of antique and home décor items through the years.
The two of them emphasized how a simple love for antiques and home décor evolved into a lifelong passion for them. Grace and Jennifer added that The Red Rooster was not only a business but also a place to share stories, make friendships, and celebrate creativity.
The owners added in the post that visitors made the Boerne store’s journey special through the years. They did so by stopping by to browse the collection, have a simple chat, or even find the right piece for their homes.
Grace and Jennifer again thanked the Boerne community for its loyalty and encouragement, and for making The Red Rooster a part of their lives. As they now step into retirement, the owners are looking forward to slowing down, spending ample time with family, and doing a little antique hunting for themselves.
The Red Rooster’s followers were quick to respond to the farewell post. A user wrote, “You will be missed. My neighbor and I drove from Kerrville many times just to visit your shop. You had a wonderful way of displaying all the beautiful items, kept your prices affordable, and you and your mother were always so friendly to us. Thank you, and please enjoy your retirement.”
Another avid store fan reacted, saying, “Thirty-five years of love, dedication, and memories – you’ve left an indelible mark on this community.”
Last Day of Service
Grace and Jennifer invited loyal shoppers and the Boerne community to stop by for one last time on December 31. Attendees can say their goodbyes and celebrate the longtime store’s legacy of 35 years.
