Slim Chickens is opening at Buckeye Commons.
The restaurant is posted on Sunbelt Investment Holdings, Inc.’s site plan for Buckeye Commons, located at 1045 N Verrado Way, and was reported on CBS42. No exact date has been announced.
Slim Chickens was founded in Arkansas by Tom Gordon and Greg Smart — two friends who wanted to open a restaurant that focused on quality and a “better chicken” experience. The restaurant is best known for its fresh, hand-breaded buttermilk-marinated chicken tenders and wings, cooked to order and served with a variety of signature sauces. In addition, the restaurant offers chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, aides, and desserts.
The Buckeye Commons location is part of Barnett Management Company’s plans to open close to three dozen Slim Chickens locations throughout Arizona in the coming years. In June 2025, What Now Phoenix reported that Slim Chickens would open in Goodyear, with Barnett planning on ramping up its plan to open more restaurants in the coming years. At the time, Lucas Barnett said of the brand in a statement, “It’s about building great teams, delivering consistent quality, and creating experiences guests can count on. “Slim Chickens is a young, exciting brand with a ton of growth potential, and we believe it fits well in Arizona’s competitive dining landscape.”
