Ono Hawaiian BBQ is opening another Arizona location.

The restaurant is opening at the new East Gate Plaza, a 17-acre multi-use shopping and wellness complex opening at Ellsworth and E Elliot Roads in Mesa. The complex is targeting an early 2026 opening date.

Ono Hawaiian will join a host of other restaurants, shops, and wellness facilities at the $60 million center operated by Diversified Partners. Other tenants include Starbucks, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Discount Tire, FitFX, WingSnob, Señor Taco, Farmer Boys, Zeitouna, Fresh Monkee, Port of Subs, Ono Hawaiian BBQ, Euphoria Nail Salon, Playa Bowls, Hand & Stone Spa, Kolache Café, Andi’s Hair Salon, a med spa, a dental office, and a family medical practice.

Ono Hawaiian BBQ was founded by brothers Joshua and Joe Liang in 2002 in Santa Monica. Inspired by their love of Hawaiian food, the brothers offer up a menu of traditional favorites such as musubi, pork, grilled Spam and eggs, and chicken katsu. The restaurant also offers family meals, plate lunches, and mini meals for kids.

The Liangs still own and operate Ono Hawaiian BBQ, ensuring that all locations provide quality food and service, which includes grilling all food to order. Today, there are more than 100 locations — mainly in California and Arizona. In 2026, Ono Hawaiian plans to expand eastward to Texas.
