Gyro Hut is on a huge upswing, and with it comes two new Houston locations set to open in the first quarter of 2026. According to a recently filed state permit, one of the new locations will open as part of the second phase of the Kingsbridge Plaza at 8733 Highway 6 South, Suite Z. Gyro Hut operating partner, Mehran Khan, told What Now Houston that a second Gyro Hut location will open at 19320 W Bellfort Blvd.

“Bringing these locations to the Greater Houston area is about more than opening new restaurants—it’s about investing in the community,” Khan said.

“We are committed to creating local jobs, delivering fresh and flavorful food, and providing a welcoming environment that customers can rely on.”

Construction on the Kingsbridge location is slated to start at the end of January and wrap at the end of March 2026. This will be the fifth Gyro Hut location to come to the Greater Houston area.

Gyro Hut’s history dates back to New York around 2008, when founder Victor Waqar brought authentic Mediterranean flavors with fresh ingredients to New Yorkers through a The Gyro Shop food truck. The eatery evolved into a Houston-based brand known for gyros, shawarma, and falafel when he moved to Texas and opened the first Gyro Hut brick-and-mortar in Plano in 2017.

Both the Kingsbridge and Bellfort Blvd. Gyro Hut locations set to open in early 2026 will be corporate-run locations.

“Corporate carefully evaluates each market using data-driven analysis, including traffic flow, visibility, population density, and neighborhood compatibility, Khan said.

“Every location is chosen with the goal of becoming a lasting part of the community while maintaining operational efficiency and brand standards.”

Gyro Hut is also beginning to franchise and already has a few franchisees in place to open locations in the coming year. You can expect the beloved menu at all eateries.

“The menu will feature Gyro Hut’s signature offerings, including NY-style gyro meat, freshly grilled proteins, crisp vegetables, and house-made sauces,” Khan said.

“Consistency is key across all locations, while the brand continues to evolve with thoughtful menu enhancements based on customer feedback.”
