Sally’s Apizza is bringing a slice of the East Coast to Texas with a major expansion that has San Antonio in its crosshairs. According to a recent MYSA report, the famed Connecticut-born brand is planning to open at least 45 new pizzerias in the Lone Star State, with the Alamo City set as a target market.

No word just yet on exactly where and when Sally’s Apizza will pop up in San Antonio, but the booming pizza chain is setting its sights on the region, along with Dallas, Houston, and Austin.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Sally’s Apizza Chief Operating Officer, Ted Zizslperger, to find out more details about the opening, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

Sally’s Apizza was founded by Salvatore “Sally” Consiglio in 1983.

“Famous for our distinctive tomato sauce and chewy, crispy crust with an iconic char, Sally’s is loved by pizza fans from around the world,” the website reads.

Those fans include celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Gordon Ramsey, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Sally’s Apizza has been winning the hearts and stomachs of people since its inception. Known for Connecticut-style pizza, or New Haven “apizza”, a thin, chewy crust traditionally baked in super-hot coal-fired ovens, Sally’s Apizza was a New Haven must-try.

In 2021, Sally’s Apizza extended its reach across Connecticut with an opening in Stamford. There are now nearly ten Sally’s Apizza locations across Connecticut and Massachusetts, with plans to open 10 more locations in 2026 to hit their newly implemented 18-location mark across five states and build towards a future goal of 1,000 nationwide.

That ante was upped when the brand was acquired by Pennsylvania-based investment group, Lineage Hospitality. Development documents published on the booming chain’s website suggest that the company is targeting 45 locations in Texas, and it’s all a part of a plan to open 255 restaurants across 12 states.

Texas would become Sally’s Apizza’s biggest move, with San Antonio at the center of that expansion. Sally Apizza’s is coming to San Antonio. When and where exactly, well, we will let you know when we know. Just keep your stomach ready for some one-of-a-kind New Haven “apizza.”
