Saucy! by KFC, the chicken restaurant’s modern interpretation that specializes in chicken tenders and sauces, is rapidly expanding its reach.
The fast-casual chain, which recently opened three locations in the Orlando area, is gearing up to open more locations.
According to the Bungalower, Saucy has just taken over the former PDQ space 925 South Orlando Avenue in Winter Park. The company has already started converting the restaurant over to the new concept, and signage is in place. An opening date has not been set.
KFC’s Saucy! concept is a bold departure from the traditional Colonel Sanders-themed KFC. The restaurants are sleek and modern. Decorated in hues of pink with digital kiosk ordering systems, the aesthetic works well for social media.
The menu centers around chicken tenders (called “tendies”), and its different sauces such as chimichurri ranch, spicy mango chutney, smokey bacon ranch, and Thai sweet & spicy. The restaurant also offers the tendies in “sammies”, loaded fries, bowls, “grand’itos”, and “chick’itos”. The result is a truly customized meal where consumers can choose their own taste adventure by mixing and matching fillings and sauces.
According to a story posted on Yum.com, the concept started as a project to create a sub brand that would appeal to a younger audience. KFC Chief New Concept Officer Christophe Poirier said, “This whole project has moved extremely fast, thanks to a number of factors, including KFC’s enduring trust with customers, built over decades by our franchise partners. One day Saucy by KFC didn’t exist, and now? Poof! We’re part of the national zeitgeist.”
