The Garden State is sending some of its favorite sandwiches to the DFW. Jersey Mike’s-a heavy-hitter on the fast-casual dining scene since 1956- has filed paperwork for a new Azle location, and locals will be able to begin charting the eatery’s progress later this year.

The legendary sandwich shop will be assembling its signature sandwiches in a renovated storefront at 605 Northwest Parkway. Paperwork pertaining to the location filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation states that work will begin on the 1,698 square foot restaurant on March 16 of this year. While a definitive opening timeline is not yet available, the submitted forms state the work is set to conclude by June 15, suggesting Azle locals will be able to scratch their sandwich itches at some point this summer.

Jersey Mike’s Azle location will be operated by Trey Nelson, a local franchisee who knows a thing or two about running a quick-service restaurant. Nelson has already cut his teeth with Jersey Mike’s, owning two locations in the DFW.

Jersey Mike’s is known far beyond the geographic boundaries suggested by the name. Perhaps Jersey’s most popular non-Bruce Springsteen export, the chain has more than 4,000 locations open and developing across the globe.

The concept owes its incredible global success to its commitment to quality, which has remained consistent for more than 70 years. The website explains Jersey Mike’s recipe for success, saying: “Our secret to longevity has been making sure that everything is always high quality. Our MSA Grade top round beef are trimmed and cooked right in the store. Our meats and cheeses are all top-quality premium brands. Our bread is fresh-baked each day on the premises. And of course, everything’s prepared right in front of you. It’s what makes Jersey Mike’s the most authentic tasting submarine sandwich.”
