Olive Garden has already made a huge impact in the Lone Star State, with Texas holding the title for the most Olive Garden locations in the country. Well, folks, Texas is keeping that title with yet another opening in motion, this time in Katy. According to a recent state filing, the new Olive Garden is expected to open in the Texas Heritage Marketplace at 29077 Katy Freeway.
The permit also details that construction on the new Italian-inspired quick dining food chain is set to start at the beginning of April 2026 and wrap up by November 2026. If all goes well, that means that the new Greater Houston area Olive Garden will open before the end of 2026.
What Now Houston reached out to Darden Restaurants Design Manager, Bob Fields, who was also listed on the permit, for details about the opening. Darden is the parent company of Olive Garden, which does not franchise. Field confirmed that the new corporate rustic eatery will be coming to Katy soon, but could not share exact dates around a grand or official opening.
There are already nearly 120 Olive Garden restaurants in Texas, with more than 900 operating in the United States. Olive Garden even has an international presence with locations in countries like Saudi Arabia. Even with all the ongoing growth, Olive Garden has stayed true to its offerings and style.
Founded in 1982 by General Mills, the Orlando, FL, eatery’s core offerings have been Italian-inspired food. The co-founders were Blaine Sweatt, Mark Given, Gino DeSantis, and Dave Manuchia, whose Italian partnerships have been the bedrock of the growing chain’s success.
Today, Olive Garden offers a variety of pastas, salads, and soups. Their beloved breadsticks and salads have become so widely known that they’ve carried into generations, morphing into social media memes and widely talked about social media moments.
Capture your moment at the new Olive Garden to come to Katy when it opens in the Texas Heritage Marketplace at 29077 Katy Freeway by the end of 2026.
