Gyro Hut is continuing to increase its footprint in the Greater Houston area. The Mediterranean small chain is set to open a location in Manvel at 21716 SH 288, Suite 102, according to a recently filed permit.
The permit also details that construction on the new Gyro Hut is expected to start at the end of April this year and wrap up at the end of July 2026.
What Now Houston recently spoke with Gyro Hut operating partner, Mehran Khan, about the brand’s continued growth.
“Bringing these locations to the Greater Houston area is about more than opening new restaurants—it’s about investing in the community,” Khan said.
“We are committed to creating local jobs, delivering fresh and flavorful food, and providing a welcoming environment that customers can rely on.”
The brand recently opened a few other Gyro Hut locations in the area with plans for more to come.
The franchise behind the new Gyro Hut to come to Manvel is Bilal Syed. Khan confirmed that Syed would be at the helm of the new eatery. What Now Houston also reached out to Syed, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Gyro Hut’s history dates back to New York around 2008, when founder Victor Waqar brought authentic Mediterranean flavors with fresh ingredients to New Yorkers through a The Gyro Shop food truck. The eatery evolved into a Houston-based brand known for gyros, shawarma, and falafel when he moved to Texas and opened the first Gyro Hut brick-and-mortar in Plano in 2017.
You can expect the beloved menu at all eateries.
“The menu will feature Gyro Hut’s signature offerings, including NY-style gyro meat, freshly grilled proteins, crisp vegetables, and house-made sauces,” Khan said.
“Consistency is key across all locations, while the brand continues to evolve with thoughtful menu enhancements based on customer feedback.”
