With nearly 2,900 stores in 19 states, Casey’s, the convenience-store-plus-service-station-plus-restaurant born in Boone, Iowa, is coming to Austin. A recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a new Casey’s planned for 14200 FM 620. Construction is expected to run from March 16 to September 16, with an estimated cost of $550,000.
The move is part of a big push for growth in Texas—to the tune of $4.4 million, according to coverage by published by My San Antonio this week.
“Project filings registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation between January 21 and Tuesday, February 3, highlight eight new Casey’s locations coming down the pipeline across Texas, highlighted by its first Austin rest stop,” the coverage says. “Those future travel centers are also poised to set up shop in Salado, Temple, Denison, Gilmer and Claude, alongside two Tyler pit stops.”
Like its competitor Buc-ee’s, whose dominance Casey’s will be challenging with its Texas expansion, Casey’s brings together a pit stop, a gas station, a convenience store, and a beloved fast-casual restaurant.
For our purposes, the restaurant is the most exciting piece. Its menu features specialty pizzas like the Twisted Pepperoni Pizza, the Taco Pizza, and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza. They share the state with Hot Sandwiches & Burgers, Fresh Wraps, Fresh Salads, and a Breakfast menu with everything from Breakfast Pizzas to Sandwiches, Burritos, and Bowls.
Look out, Buc-ee’s!
