Offering “more than carne asada, pastor & merch,” Taqueria De Diez has been a smash hit ever since it opened.

“It has been included in prominent lists such as ‘2024 Best New Restaurants,’” says a description on the taqueria’s website. “Its quality and originality have attracted locals and visitors alike, including celebrities such as Blake Lively during the SXSW 2025 Festival. Customers have praised the quality of the food and the freshness of the ingredients. The Taqueria has been well received on review platforms such as Yelp and TripAdvisor, standing out for the flavor and cozy atmosphere.”

This week, Stream Realty Partners announced that Taqueria De Diez has signed a lease at Old 6th, “marking a key milestone in the return of one of Austin’s most historic streets.” It will launch at 500 E Sixth St.

“We’ve been incredibly grateful for the support Austin has shown us since day one,” co-founder Raul Esquer, who heads up Taqueria De Diez together with co-founders Luis Esquer and Roy Servan, said in a press release. “We’re excited to bring our authentic taqueria experience to 6th Street and look forward to welcoming locals and visitors to share in our flavors.”

Taqueria De Diez’s tacos (served on either corn or flour tortillas) come with proteins like Carne Asada, Adobada (Pastor), Pollo Asado, and Nopal (Grilled Cactus). There are also quesadillas, burritos, and sides like Chips & Guac and Rice & Beans.

“Taqueria De Diez is exactly the kind of award‑winning, community‑rooted concept we’re proud to welcome to Old 6th,” Paul Bodenman, senior vice president at Stream, said in press release. “Their rapid rise and the acclaim they’ve earned in just a few short years speak to the quality of their food and the passion behind the brand. We couldn’t be more excited to bring their energy, creativity, and culinary excellence to the historic street.”

The new Taqueria De Diez location is expected to open in the first half of 2027. It will replace the brand’s current downtown location.
