Epicenter at Agritopia has added one concept and is preparing to welcome another to its growing mix of food, wellness, and retail experiences. The Mission, the modern Latin restaurant from Chef Matt Carter, is now open, while Freed Beauty, a clean beauty and wellness boutique, will open later this month at the walkable lifestyle destination in the heart of Gilbert. These openings mark a continued expansion of Epicenter’s wellness-forward offerings, bringing high-touch culinary and self-care experiences to the East Valley.
The Mission opens third location at Epicenter
From chef and partner Matt Carter, The Mission Gilbert marks the restaurant’s third location in the Valley. Open as of Monday, Feb. 9, the restaurant introduces its signature candlelit ambiance, award-winning modern Latin cuisine, and agave-forward cocktails to one of Gilbert’s fastest-growing neighborhoods.
Located at 3150 E. Ray Road, Suite 180, The Mission Gilbert features hallmark design elements such as a Himalayan salt brick wall, warm wood tones and an immersive, moody interior. The space includes a lighter enclosed front dining area, a dramatic main dining room and bar, and a private dining space with audiovisual capabilities for up to 40 guests.
Guests can expect house-made tortillas, the iconic Tableside Guacamole, and dishes such as pozole, roasted pork shoulder tacos for two, and the signature “Whole Roasted Pig Out” brunch feast. The beverage program centers on tequila and mezcal, complemented by a curated wine list and craft cocktails.
“We are excited to officially open our doors in Gilbert and bring The Mission experience to the East Valley,” said Chef Matt Carter in a statement. “This location has been in the works for a long time, and the response from the community has already been incredible. We have created a space designed for connection, great food and unforgettable moments, and we cannot wait to welcome guests in.”
Freed Beauty to bring clean, curated self-care to Gilbert
Opening later this month, Freed Beauty is a new boutique offering curated beauty, wellness and personal care products focused on clean ingredients and sustainable practices. The store features skincare, cosmetics, hair care, supplements, modern fragrances and an assortment of additional home and wellness categories, all designed to support holistic self-care and conscious living.
“We are proud to bring clean beauty and thoughtful self-care to Gilbert in a way that feels both elevated and accessible,” Alicia Freed, (Founder) said in a statement. “Freed is all about feeling good in your skin and being intentional with what you use daily. We can’t wait to welcome the Epicenter community into our space.”
A growing East Valley hub for lifestyle and wellness
“These two concepts reflect exactly what we love about Epicenter,” said William Johnston, CEO of Johnston & Co. “The Mission is one of the most iconic dining experiences in Arizona and Freed brings a thoughtful approach to beauty and wellness. They both elevate the Epicenter experience and continue to shape the kind of vibrant, community-driven destination we are proud to offer.”
Epicenter continues to grow its lineup of locally rooted restaurants, fitness studios, health services and independent retailers.
