Buffalo Wild Wings is set to open up shop on the 290. The booming wings chain is nestling in where one burger chain has flown the coop, 13010 Northwest Fwy. According to a recently filed permit, the new Buffalo Wild Wings is expected to open in the former Fuddruckers along Northwest Fwy.
The permit details that the $450,000 project is slated to start by mid-April and is expected to wrap up by the end of October.
“Proposed conversion project will renovate the closed Fuddruckers building to a new Buffalo Wild Wing Restaurant,” the permit reads.
At the helm of the nearly 6,000 square foot Buffalo Wild Wings to be erected on 290 is Jae Yoo. What Now Houston briefly spoke with Jae about the upcoming opening. Yoo confirmed that the Buffalo Wild Wings location is in progress, but was unable to share any further details by the time of this publication.
There are currently fewer than 20 Buffalo Wild Wings locations in Houston, but Texas takes the cake for the highest number of Buffalo Wild Wings locations in the country, representing 10% of the brand’s total with a whopping 138 wing spots. Globally, there are more than 1,300 Buffalo Wild Wings locations, with the vast majority in the U.S.
With the brand expanding to include smaller, take-out, standalone Buffalo Wild Wings spots called Buffalo Wild Wings GO, we’re sure to continue to see that number climb.
Through all of the growth, the menu has mostly remained the same.
In search of authentic Buffalo-style chicken wings, Jim Disbrow and Scott Lowery turned their craving into profit when they opened Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck, or BW3, in 1982. What started as a wing joint for college students turned into a worldwide brand that would eventually franchise, drop the Weck, and become the Buffalo Wild Wings we all know today. The brand was then bought by Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc., now Inspire Brands, in 2018 for $2.9 billon.
“Good thing there’s no such thing as too many sauce options,” the Buffalo Wild Wings website reads.
The brand has 26 sauces and dry rubs that you can get in wings, boneless, or strips. Besides the chicken, Buffalo Wild Wings has a host of sides, including fried pickles, onion rings, and fries. Buffalo Wild Wings also offers burgers, salads, and veggies to go with your wings.
The newest Buffalo Wild Wings to come to the Greater Houston area is expected to open at 13010 Northwest Fwy in fall 2026.
