Richie’s Hot Chicken is soaring to new heights with another opening coming to the San Antonio area. According to MySA, Richie’s Hot Chicken is embarking on opening its second brick-and-mortar location in a new territory: Alamo Ranch. The Nashville-style chicken spot is slated to open at 11310 Culebra Road early this year.

After roaming around the Shaenfield area for two years in a food truck, owner Jen Zuniga shared with What Now San Antonio the excitement around opening their second walk-in Richie’s Hot Chicken spot.

“We did want to go back to our home base, and of course, Alamo Ranch is a hot spot. So, why wouldn’t we want to go to a place that’s definitely growing?” Zuniga said.

Zuniga shared that she actually operated the food truck near the newest location, so it’s a full circle moment for her and her team. Richie’s Hot Chicken launched its first brick-and-mortar location on Huebner Road in 2024.

Now, Richie’s Hot Chicken is flying towards a new destination, but the coop still needs some time and love before flinging the doors open.

“Longer than expected, a little hiccups here and there,” Zuniga said.

Known for its signature “Richie Rich Fries,” chicken sandwiches, and burritos, the popular San Antonio spot has been praised for its hala-certified Nashville-style hot chicken.

“Everything is delicious,” Zuniga said.

“But, I would definitely go with our Richie Richie fries, can’t go wrong with that. Our Rich special is something unique and probably our Mac and Chick bowl, that’s been a big seller.”

The new eatery will be in good company. The new Richie’s Hot Chicken, set to come to the Alamo Ranch neighborhood, will open in a retail strip mall alongside businesses like Phở Việt SA and Coco Nail Salon.
