A new hospitality experience is making its way to the Colony and its bringing with it all of the elements of a relaxed and memorable summer night with friends. The Rustic, set to open later this year, is fusing music, food, and a welcoming atmosphere into what promises to become one of the DFW’s defining hangouts, reports Dallas Business Journal.
Guests will be able to enjoy The Rustic’s unique charms at 5805 Grandscape Boulevard, in the space that housed Lava Cantina until its closure in late 2025. The venue will have capable hospitality group FreeRange Concepts at the helm; CEO Kyle Noonan generously set aside some time to fill What Now Dallas in on all The Rustic will have to offer.
Noonan explains that the vision of The Rustic blossomed from an unexpected enough seed-a bachelor party. “The inspiration behind The Rustic came from my best friend and business partner (Josh Sepkowitz) bachelor party at a friend’s ranch in the Texas Hill Country.” he says. “We were grilling outside over an open flame, listening to music, drinking cold beer outside under the stars and we looked at each other and said to ourselves, ‘We need to create a restaurant that encapsulates this experience.’ And that is how The Rustic was born!”
The Rustic currently has two locations open and operational in the Houston region. Noonan and his team believe that The Colony is the perfect choice for the concept’s first DFW home. He states “The Colony is absolutely booming and the future is bright and undeniable! It was an obvious choice for us!”
The Rustic will, likewise, be an obvious choice for The Colony locals eager for a relaxed and inviting night out. FreeRange Concepts is trying to recreate a very cozy, homey, and inviting environment Noonan describes saying: “If everything goes right, it’ll feel like the front porch of North Texas—live music in the air, cold drinks on the table, and no one in a hurry to leave.”
Residents won’t have to wait too much longer to enjoy an evening at The Rustic; openings are always moving targets, but Noonan projects a June of 2026 opening.
The wait will certainly prove worthwhile. The Rustic is on deck to be one of the most exciting DFW openings of 2026, bringing something every neighborhood needs-Noonan sums it up eloquently, saying: ”It’s the kind of place where you stop in for one and end up staying all night, because the band’s good, the food’s great, and the energy just feels right. That’s the atmosphere we’re chasing.”
