Skinny Louie, the Miami-born smashburger that wowed the South Beach Food & Wine Festival, is making plans to take over the South Florida (and New York) burger game.
Just a few weeks ago, the fast casual burger spot opened at Dania Pointe in Dania Beach to incredible crowds who waited for hours to get their hands on a burger.
Now, the restaurant is planning a Fort Lauderdale location. The Browardist posted the news on Instagram, noting, “It’s official-official (with an address!). @skinnylouie.burgers is coming to Fort Lauderdale and it’s landing alongside @barrys”.
The burger restaurant is moving into Fort Lauderdale’s Bank of America Plaza at 401 Las Olas Boulevard. According to Browardist, the building is undergoing a “comprehensive upgrade”, with completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. Skinny Louie, along with Barry’s Bootcamp, will likely move in at that time.
The Miami burger chain, led by Gonzalo Rubino and Matias Palloni keeps its menu simple. Three different smashburgers are offered, along with milkshakes, fries, and sodas. All burgers are made with 100% fresh Black Angus beef patties, thinly cut potatoes are fried until golden and crispy, and sauces are prepared in-house.
That no gimmick, high quality ethos has paid off, with Skinny Louie winning numerous awards including the “Very Best Burger” award at the 2025 South Beach Wine & Food Festival and was the winner at the 2025 New York City Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash.
