Multinational retail corporation Walmart is winning the hearts of its customers this Valentine’s Day with special chocolates. The company’s heart-shaped boxes and seasonal treats, which are now arriving in stores, are produced at manufacturing facilities across the country.

Chocolate remains the most popular gift for Valentine’s Day year after year, and popular brands like The Hershey’s Company and others are filling Walmart’s shelves.

Walmart Brings American-Made Valentine’s Chocolates

Valentine’s Day is one of the biggest chocolate-selling holidays, along with Halloween and other festive occasions. In the U.S., shoppers are expected to buy about 58 million pounds of chocolate in the week leading up to February 14, according to a Walmart report.

So, as V-Day approaches, Walmart is preparing for one of the busiest chocolate-selling periods of the year. This year, the retailer is leaning heavily on U.S. manufacturing and long-standing domestic supplier partnerships.

The company stated that more than two-thirds of Walmart U.S.’s annual product spend goes toward items that are made, grown, or assembled in the country. This effort is supported by Walmart’s $350 billion commitment to U.S. manufacturing over 10 years.

During peak holidays like Valentine’s Day, many of the heart-shaped boxes and seasonal treats arriving in stores are produced at facilities across the country. Brands such as The Hershey CompanyElmer ChocolateRussell StoverDeMet’s Turtles, and Ghirardelli Chocolate Company are among the Valentine’s Day favorites supplying Walmart’s shelves this season.

Additionally, producing chocolate closer to home allows Walmart to respond more quickly to sharp increases in demand and reduces long lead times.
