From Korea to USA,” Yumsem Eats is a small chain of restaurants serving up Korean street food with locations in New York, in New Jersey, and in Tampa. At 1441 E Fletcher Ave., Suite 127, Yumsem invited guests to “Experience the taste of authentic Korean street food with Yumsem Eats, where fresh, halal-certified ingredients meet the heart of Korean culture,” as its website says. “Now in the USA, we’re bringing these vibrant flavors to you, with a welcoming, delicious twist for all.”

The Fletcher Avenue location closed last year, however.

“This Yumsem Eats location at 1441 E. Fletcher Ave Suite 127 is relocating it to 11802 Bruce B Downs Blvd Unit 103 Tampa, FL 33612 near USF,” says a description of the restaurant provided to Google Maps. It says Yumsem Eats closed on November 10 and was expected to reopen on December 7.

For now, Yumsem Eats is still marked Temporarily Closed on Google Maps, but that doesn’t mean plans for a reopening have fallen through: this week, What Now examined plan review documents submitted by KFNR Group LLC showing Yumsem Eats reopening at the Bruce B Downs Boulevard address.

“Where authentic Korean street food meets the convenience of modern technology!” the description continues. “We serve up classic dishes like kimbap, ramen, tteokbokki, and bibimbap, all made with 100% halal ingredients and halal-certified meats. What sets us apart? We use advanced machines to prepare all our food items, ensuring your meal is served quickly without compromising quality. Fast, fresh, and full of flavor – come experience the best of halal Korean food in Tampa!”

What Now reached out to co-owner Chong Yo on Wednesday to ask about plans for the reopening. Yo was not immediately available for comment.
