Triad-based barbecue spot East of Texas is planning a second location. It will join the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, with plans to open in a nearly 5,600-square-foot space this summer, according to reporting by the Triangle Business Journal.

Claire Calvin, originally from Texas, opened the spot in Winston-Salem in 2023. East of Texas offers smoked meats, barbecue sandwiches, Tex-Mex and tacos. The beverage offerings include cocktails, margaritas, beer, wine, coffee and tea.

“We believe good food takes time and care,” the East of Texas website states. “We make everything from scratch, smoke it low and slow, and build bold, fresh flavors in every bite. It’s honest, hearty food made to share and enjoy together.”

Calvin also operates The Porch, which serves Tex-Mex cuisine, in Winston-Salem.

What Now Charlotte has reached out for additional details on the upcoming expansion.

Lutra Cafe and Bakery is also planning an opening at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.
