The space at 25 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St S, formerly occupied by Baked in the Burg, will soon be home to a brand-new wine bar. Velvet Coupe, a “cozy, lounge-style wine bar” will open there, in the 1,450-square-foot space, according to recent coverage by St. Pete Rising.
Dina, the owner and operate of Velvet Coupe, formerly owned Delray Beach wine bar and wine shop Wine House Social , the coverage says, and now, Velvet Coupe will be a “more streamlined take on that concept, designed to feel intimate, relaxed, and neighborhood-driven.”
Expect a comfortable lounge setting with seating for between 30 and 35, with a bar, tables, and lounge-style furnishings. The wine list is expected to draw heavily, but by no means exclusively, on the wines of Italy; and alongside the wine, you’ll find beer, champagne, and a small, changing selection of plates.
Opening in the MLK Jr. Street location, Velvet Coupe will join a restaurant community that includes Qargo Coffee, The Burg Nutrition, Pizza Box, and Bavaro’s Pizza Napoletana & Pastaria.
What Now reached out to the owner of Velvet Coupe on Friday to ask about plans for the opening. Dina was not immediately available for comment.
