As The Center ramps up toward opening in the former CNN Center space downtown, a 24,000-square-foot dining destination — CTR Food Works — is taking shape. La Tropical, which serves Puerto Rican, Cuban and Latin cuisine, is part of the planned tenant list, according to a release.

This location will mark the second for the local brand, joining an existing location at Chattahoochee Food Works. It offers dishes such as Cuban sandwiches, bacalaítos and arroz con pollo.

La Tropical, along with the rest of CTR Food Works, is expected to open by mid-2026. Robert Montwaid is curating the CTR Food Works destination. Montwaid is also behind Chattahoochee Food Works and Gansevoort Market in New York. Other tenants expected to join the space include a full-service bar, fellow Chattahoochee Food Works concept Patty & Frank’s and a Mexican concept called Mimi Taqueria. Mastro’s Ocean Club will also open as a signature dining anchor at The Center in mid-2026.

The Center is preparing to open all the concepts prior to the anticipated FIFA World Cup activities this summer.
