There is now one less health-conscious merchant in Midtown Plaza.
An employee of a neighboring store told What Now Atlanta (WNA) on a trip to the Midtown Place shopping center that when it was time to renew leases this past December, Smoothie King did not choose to remain in the shopping complex.
Instead, Wells Fargo will be taking the place of Smoothie King on the first level of Midtown place, and is also expanding into the neighboring space, formerly home of Midtown Cleaners.
Midtown Place is located at 650 Ponce De Leon Avenue, directly across the street from Ponce City Market. The shopping center is also home to other health-focused retailers GNC and Whole Foods, which is in the process of expanding into about half of the space occupied by Staples.
Midtown Place has a unique location at the junction of Virginia Highland, Poncey-Highland and Old Fourth Ward.
Dana Newby, the leasing contact from Coro Realty, the company that owns Midtown Place, was not immediately available for comment.
The closest Smoothie King location stands at 1001 Piedmont Road.
Do you think neighbors will miss Smoothie King at Midtown Place, or will Lucky Lotus of Ponce City Market take its place as a go-to local smoothie spot? Tell us below…
Sorry to see Sooothie King go. If it has to be replaced with a bank I wish it could be a Suntrust. Since ST closed their Publix on Ponce branch there is a dearth of ST locations in the immediate area while WF has at least 4 area branches with this to make 5!
